In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As women, Allah has created us with a natural love for adornment. The Qur’andescribes women as adornment on its own for men. In the same vein, it must be well understood that any form of beautification and adornment against the sharia will be leading one into sins. Also, all forms of beautification of the muslim woman should be screened and covered from the gaze of men except those (among men) that are permitted to see them as mentioned in the Qur’an(surah al-Ahzab 59 and surah an-Nur 31).
That said, below are some amongst many incredible beauty tips that we should try as believing women.
Drink an extra glass of water
If you want to know how to get clear skin, start here. Water helps clear the toxins that cause inflammation and blemishes. It also assists in transporting nutrients and oxygen to skin cells, preventing dehydration which causes premature aging.
Water can make the skin appear fuller since the hyaluronic acid that naturally exists in skin will pull in and hold the water for a wrinkle-plumping effect.
For healthy glowing skin, take at least 8 glasses of water daily, especially if you’re active or live in a warm climate. If you want to add a little flavour, try adding a skin-soothing tea like chamomile or mint to your drinking water. You will feel marvelous, bi-ithniLlah!
Snacks on watermelon
Investing in the best skincare products will help you from the surface, but you need to aid your skin from the inside too. Adding a lycopene rich food, such as watermelon treat, helps reduce damage and redness caused from sun exposure. It also prevents future wrinkling and lowers skin cancer risk.
At least, a cup of this pinky juice daily will do. You can spice it up by tossing it in salads, salsas, and smoothies.
Or try this recipe for refreshing ice cubes: Purée watermelon sweetened with concentrated apple juice, pour into an ice tray, and freeze.
Then add cubes to water (fizzy or still) for a refreshing, healthy skin saving cocktail.
Use coffee for the beauty of your hands
Yes, coffee. The simple coffee you drink every day can be used for skin care.
Coffee grounds are a natural exfoliator. Exfoliation removes dead, dry skin cells from skin surface and boosts natural skin renewal process, making your skin look healthy and glowing. Coffee can do this for you, bi-ithniLlah, and the interesting thing is that you only need three affordable and accessible ingredients: coffee, sugar and olive oil (or any other oil of your choice)!
Here you go:
1/2 cup of coffee ground, 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 cup of olive oil. Mix your coffee ground (from your morning coffee) with sugar inside a bowl until properly mixed. Add the olive oil (or any other oil of your choice. Avoid using petroleum based oils and give your preference to natural ingredients) and mix properly.
Massage your hands with this homemade hand scrub for a couple of minutes, using the same circular motions you use while applying your hand cream. Rinse your hands with lukewarm water. Your hands will feel very soft and tender. If you do this twice a week, your hands will look wonderful, bi-ithniLlah!
One more interesting thing. This is also an incredible natural scrub for the body. All you need to do is massage your body with this scrub while in the shower, applying it in circular motions. Make sure to concentrate on areas with cellulite, on your legs and on dry areas of your body. You will notice an amazing difference, bi-ithniLlah. Your skin will look and feel soft, tender and velvety!
Beauty sleep
We know, you’ve all heard about the beauty sleep, but it’s called ‘beauty sleep’ for a reason.
Sleep deprivation lowers circulation, which is why you look pale and washed out if you only get a few hours.
Sleeping time is the best time to rejuvenate the skin. “Your body’s cellular renewal team has the night shift, so this is when you want to equip your skin with as many nutrients as possible. You also want to keep it properly hydrated, so it can do a fine job – again water.
At least seven hours a night should do, if you’ve been questioning how to get glowing skin.
Eat plenty of super food
We are what we eat, simple. If you want really amazing skin that truly glows, you have to eat a diet rich in antioxidants, one that also contains anti-inflammatory and healing nutrients.
I suggest that you go local with organic produce. Cut out sugar; it causes an inflammatory response in the body.
Sanitize your smartphone
I know that this seems out of nowhere but when you start having pimples all over your pretty face because of germs infested smartphones, then it becomes “something”.
According to a Stanford University study, that iPhone from which you can’t stay your hands, can get more germ-infested than a toilet for public use!
In fact, the glass touchscreens on mobile devices are so good at spreading viruses that sharing them may be almost as bad as sneezing in someone’s face.
Here’s a scary thought: All those germs land right on your cheek and jawline every time you chat away, causing spots and irritation.
To keep your phone (and face) bacteria-free, wipe it down with an antibacterial wipe like Clorox Disinfecting Wipes.
Do this a few times a day for healthy skin, bi-ithniLlah.
May Allah protect us from all that will reduce our self confidence and leave us vulnerable to evil options. Aameen.
